Big news on 4th Avenue: At long last, people can move into the Novo. The DOB granted the condo a temporary certificate of occupancy on Friday, only a few days before some of the building’s buyers would have been able to walk away from their contracts. It was rumored that the development would not get a C of O until its developers finished work on the public playground behind the building. The temp certificate is only good through July 25, and there are still 23 outstanding requirements to be fulfilled before the building is completely good to go. While the playground is still not finished, in recent weeks contractors have stepped up work on the space, and it looks like it should be done within a couple months (see pic on jump). We bet there are some extremely relieved Novo buyers who spent the weekend celebrating.

I don’t think this place is half as ugly as ANY of those new condos that went up along McCarren Park.

4th ave the new Park Ave…I think not. This is more of a marketing ploy to get unsuspecting buyers into such an ugly apartment building. That park will never get done.

i dont think novo is fugly. i actually like the way the building looks. i think the building will definetly blend in with the surroundings when the rest of 4th ave becomes more developed.

if you make some pronouncement, it would be nice if you followed it up with some explanation – why are you calling the owners desperate – b/c the building is ugly? or some other reason. What is wrong with ORO (at least comparatively.)

Are there reports of closings happening and residents moving in yet?
Will be interesting to see if units don’t actually close due to the crappy market and general poor takeup of the units.
