One of the few carriage houses in Park Slope is slated to be renovated and converted for single family occupancy. Located at 90 Park Place just up from 6th Avenue, the project is currently under construction, although the hard winter has forced a stoppage. Since it is located in a Landmarked area, the building will receive a full restoration to include masonry, lintels, window sills, the parapet and of course the entire interior. (You can see the details in the DOB application.) Not surprisingly, it will remain a one-family residence. GMAP — Pedro Pachano

  1. thank God they ripped off the garish stairwell-covered in sheet metal that ran up this place’s western side. and they got a curb cut! keep it baby; I always picture a vintage car and motorbike w/ sidecar parked just off my kitchen!

  2. The Historic Properties Fund, the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s revolving loan fund, is providing financing for exterior restoration work at 90 Park Place. The family who owns the building has lived in it for more than 30 years. Currently, no major interior work is planned as part of this project.

  3. DSnark,

I, too, admire that carraige house to which you posted a link.

Do you think the place next to it… the place that looks like it could be a 1980’s night club or something… do you think it, too, was a carraige house at one time?
