As we reported on Friday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission began the process of expanding the Park Slope Historic District with the motion to calendar at yesterday’s weekly public hearing. The attendant verbiage rivals Moby Dick in length and mind-numbing specificity, but we were excited to get a fresh map (of the southern end of the expansion, at least) out of the process! 1. I guess it’s finally official: Park Slope ends at 15th Street.

I guess you don’t have to say you live in the South Slope if you live in the Park Slope Historical District!

  2. Any property owners within the newly outlined district who are considering a building enlargement (if zoning allows it) should file their DOB work applications now or it will be harder and more expensive to do so when LPC has jurisdiction over them.

  3. Minard, Brooklyn alone could keep the LPC busy for years. Add all those other boroughs, and LPC must have a workload projected into 2025, and that’s just today’s list.

  4. they drew the district line around the armory but that site is already landmarked so really the protected area is all the way from 15th to 7th Street. What happens north of 7th?

  5. The Historic District really should extend to Sixth Avenue but maybe that is just too much to chew off at one time.
The Landmarks Commission must be busy these days.

  6. Woo hoo!!

IMBY, down to 6th Avenue is part of phase 2 and then phase 3 (if it all passes) will basically cover almost the entirety of Park Slope from Flatbush to 15th and PPW to 5th Avenue.
