Last night CB2’s land use committee considered the proposal to landmark the Paul Robeson Theater in Fort Greene, ultimately supporting the plan to confer historic status on the building at 40 Greene Avenue. CB2 went over the proposal, which the LPC put forward in March, and also discussed the state of the building itself. There was concern voiced over the church’s current condition, with one committee member saying the facade is in “pretty horrid” shape. Another board member said there were worries about the roof’s structural condition. However, the board made eventually a motion to support the designation. No word on when the LPC will hold a hearing on the designation.
