Insurance that covers "Inherent Vice"?

Hey guys, motivated by the fairly recent building collapse on Carroll Street in carroll gardens to take a closer look at my homeowner policy.  Which insurance companies cover undetected structural issues such as those that caused that wall to collapse?  Seems my current state farm policy only covers me if such a collapse is storm or fire-related…

Thanks in advance for any counsel!

Most HO policies will cover damage caused by the negligence of others, i.e., collapse due to neighbor’s failure to properly underpin, as well as damage resulting from specified causes of loss. Damage resulting from something inherent to the building itself or deterioration related to age or the mere passage of time is not generally covered. These are typically not recognized as “accidental” losses, which is what your policy is designed to cover.
