Installing sliding glass doors on rear parlor

Hello all, Curious to know the ins and outs of creating a wall of windows / sliding glass doors across the rear of our parlor floor where our kitchen is going and would lead out to a deck.  What would be required structurally and what would the approximate cost be?  For those who have done a similar project, are you happy you did it or do you wish you only converted one window into a door?  Also, should we be concerned about additional heating / cooling costs as a result? I also put a deck off the back of my parlor floor, but took out all three windows and put in three doors.  It eliminated the need for changing the structure (you will need a beam to act as a lintel across your large opening, and was not expensive.   Also, the deck is at the same height as the interior floor, so there is no step when going out.  I am very happy with it and would not have only done one door.

Hi:  I am also in the process of creating a wall of sliding glass doors acrss the rear of our groundfloor kitchen which would lead to the backyard.  I am trying to locate a structural engineer;  I am taking out two windows and part of a wall.  I would be interested to know what the approximate cost and if you are happy with it. thanks
