How do you get the City to repair your sidewalk? Our sidewalk is collapsing from roots hollowing out the ground below, and despite residents reporting it to DOT, DOP, DET over several years, they do nothing. The residents will pay, but how do you get the City to actually do the work?

Not sure what your acronyms are but have you tried Parks Dept.? When trees are involved you risk a fine if you do it yourselves & even DOT has to go through Parks for remediation.

Complaints to 311 will result in the City inspecting all sidewalks on the block and violations will be issued. About 1-2 years later the City will have a contractor replace all squares with violations and will bill the homeowner about $10.25 a square foot dpending on the contractors bid. Usually it’s cheaper to let the City do the replacement.
