Contractor Recomendation

I am looking for a contractor to do some moderate renovations in our pre-war apartment. The work includes 1) Sealing up a door that connects a 3rd bedroom to the kitchen and painting that bedroom 2) Building a small linen closet within a “nook” in our hallway 3) Creating a pass-through with an arch opening to our kitchen 4) Minor electrical work such as putting an outlet and light in a closet that sits behind a fusebox and converting a 220V plug to a 110 There may be some other minor things added depending on cost. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

I would suggest calling Matt Ruby at HS-NY. His number is 914.837.8482\. He is an absolutely lovely man. He did not end up doing any work for me due to my time contraints but I would hire him in a NY minute. He is careful, thoughtful and takes his time to figure out his best approach to tackling a job. If he cannot do it he will say so but he is also game to give it a try. He also will not charge you for the time he spends to investigate the job, the process or the materials needed. So while I cannot (yet) recommend his work. As a person I totally dig him and would not only have him do my projects but have him back for dinner and a chat. Christine W.
