Acid etched vs sandblasted glass panels

I am replacing some old crappy bifold doors to a dining room. I have made a custom design that reiterates an original glass paneI set in the butlers pantry door. The new panels will be fairly tall and pretty narrow. I have gotten one bid that was shockingly high for the 8 glass panels, being done by an acid-etch technique ( which at least looked more similar to the original than the sand blasted samples I was shown)
Does anyone have experience with either of these processes , or have recommendations for a
source ? Thanks!

Thx! I think we’ve talked to bear and they don’t do acid etched. The shocking came in at over 20k for 8 very narrow panels!

There are a number of places online that sell cut to size glass door panels. Remember that you need tempered or laminated glass for a door. I don’t know what you think of as shocking in the expense department, but an often used resource for fancy glass is Bendheim glass, which many people find shockingly expensive, and can be ordered online. They are in NJ, so you probably can also pick up. You can also get samples for a few dollars that will arrive within a few days. In the past, people here have often recommended Bear Glass, which is local in Brooklyn. We built a glass enclosed room, which used glass from these folks. http://www.hollanderarchitectural.com/_nonwholesale.php I don’t think they sell to consumers, but my contractor acquired the glass.
