New here. looking to buy in Bed Stuy

My wife and I have decided to finally pull the trigger and buy our first home. Ideally a brownstone with income . This would be our first purchase so we are very new to this. We have already been pre approved for up to one million. Where in bed stuy should we look which real estate agencies are the best to deal with . Ty all in advance

We bought a place in Bed-Stuy (5 blocks from the Kingston Throop stop, so seemingly in the area you are looking) about 2 1/2 years ago. A lot has changed since then in terms of the cost of houses, but we worked with Alex Maroni at Douglas Elliman. You should speak with him to get his feedback on the neighborhood, your budget, etc., as he knows the neighborhood well.

As a long-time multi-family owner/investor in BK you can email me if you would like some recommendations. There is a big difference between agents in this market place as its very fragmented. Having met and worked with tons of agents, including the ones above, I would rate those mentioned as slightly above average but there are better IMO. mrohrmann at gmail dot com

You are going to have to look east, down by Ralph / Howard / Saratoga for that sort of budget. It’s tough as buyer and, in this market, your patience, sanity and perseverance will all be tested time and time again. You will be outbid, have lousy inspections which may force you to walk away and encounter shady sellers and brokers, and all more than once so don’t fall in love with anything. I would suggest going with a small, LOCAL, boutique-y agency like Evans and Nye – Ban is fantastic. You could also try the agency on the Stuyvesant and MacDonough (can’t recall the name but he’s been around for years) and Flateau, who I personally did not have a good experience with and would not recommend but it’s still a local resource.
