Where to look for new apartment

Hi – I’ve lived in Boerum Hill since 1993 and want to find a new rental 1 BR apt. I want to stay in or near the neighborhood but my price limit is $2200\. Any suggestions as to where to look – Carroll Gardens, Red Hook, Gowanus, 4th Avenue area?

For Carroll Gardens rental listings, try the storefront realty on Smith St. (Approx around Union or Degraw.) They know everyone in the neighborhood.

After living in transit-rich Boerum Hill I think Red Hook would be a real drag.  I say North Sunset Park/Greenwood Heights.

i think the best bang for the buck right now is in the Columbia Waterfront District. The Gowanus is also a great option, though I see little availability there. Call the guys at Frank Galeano for great deals in the area.  Red Hook of course is the less expensive option.
Otherwise, move on to South Park Slope.
