Navien Tankless Hot Water heater - pros/cons/other brands?

Our contractor is recommending a Navien tankless hot water heater for our 3 story brownstone (legal 2 family). Further, I believe he recommends installing in laundry closet on top floor (I guess to save space in cellar should we finish that someday). Has anyone had experience with this heater? Pros/cons? How is noise? Should we consider other brand? It’s about $1500 more than the standard hot water heater and is apparently more energy efficient so it should pay for itself but I want to be sure it works well!

I put a Paloma in my house and spec them for the clients that are not too worried about the up front cost. Mine is about 5 years old, is not very loud and works great.
