leaky toilet base

the base of our 4 year old Toto toilet is leaking…not a ton, just a few tablespoons or so from one side of the toilet. The funny thing is that the water is blue from one of those toilet tank tablets that we havent used in months. The tank water is clean and clear. Could this be old water that’s seeping out? This toilet is on a slate tile floor, cauked at the base. Anyway….anyone have a good, clean, afforbable plumber?

Great, clean, affordable plumber = Peter Dymond (914) 826-0181 Peter is a Brit with an engineering degree. He runs a crew for a licensed plumbing company. Peter himself is unlicensed, but extremely capable and as good as any I’ve worked with. He does small jobs nights and weekends to make extra cash.

My customers have not had problems with ones I installed, but there are different types.  Do you have a Unifit?  The drop on kind?  Another kind pushes in and clips, that can be a problem if you can’t get all four clips connected.  These options are not like other toilets.

I’ve had nothing but problems with Toto toilets.  IMO they’re not worth the money.  I’ve had fill valves fail, flappers fail after 2 years, and other minor annoyances.  Get an American Standard, get a Kohler, buy an outhouse, dig a hole — all are better solutions than a Toto. I am guessing your flapper absorbed some of your 2000 flushes tablet *and* you have a leak.
