I’m about to do renovations on our four unit brownstone, a total of 3330 sq. ft. total footage including hall. Before I start to get estimates I just wanted to see if anyone has a ball park figure of what it might cost including the use of Benjamin Moore paint. Thanks

Hi Painting Brownstone, Not sure if you are still seeking help with this but just one more reply in case you are. Be a little more specific…? if you are not sure what to specify, you will not get two prices that have any relation to one another. There are too many ways for someone to cut corners and subsequently appear as the low bidder. Have two people come by and ask them to price the work you want done, and to be specific as to what they will include. Most contractors are not keen on spelling something out for you only to see the work go to someone else. So, consider letting them know that in return for helping you out, you will give them final consideration before selecting a contractor. This gives them some assurance that there time may be well spent _and that they are willing to invest some time and energy on your behalf._ As for assessing who to use beyond price? Who asks better questions, who offers insight as to how the job may be done better, save some cost, prioritize different aspects of the job in case you have more job than budget, different finishes, brand of paint and which grade within the given brand, if and where existing moisture may be causing problems, is this job for a rental unit or your own living space, age of kids using the space, how they protect existing fixtures and furniture, and, um, so on and so on… I do this kind of work and if you don’t find addressing these kinds of questions too tedious, I would be happy to discuss this project with you.
