Decorative metal mesh

I was also looking for this but ultimately just went with the typical diamond mesh that is readily available. It’s actually fine in that it just blends well with the door. We also added a plate to the outside of the gate and had a handle welded on so we can pull it closed.

We’re looking for some sort of decorative metal mesh that we can weld onto our under the stoop door. Basically something that will prevent someone from reaching through the bars to unlock the door when we take off the two-sided cylinder and replace it with a thumb-turn on the inside. I’ve looked at the normal expanded metal stuff from mcnichols but am hoping to find something a little more decorative, appropriate for a victorian, etc. Any recommendations? Thanks

You may have one of these already, but if you don’t, you may consider getting one in addition to a grill to foil potential burglers – we had one, and it worked quite well.  You get the iron forgers to make a sort of box of flat pieces of iron that is welded onto the iron gate, with an open side on the inside – the lock sits inside this box, so it is not reachable from the outside – which is useful if someone is able to cut a hole through the grill – because they still can’t reach around the side of the box to get at the lock to open it.
