Water accumulating under stoop steps

In the little chamber under my steps there is always water or evidence of its presence. As far as I know, there are no pipes or machinery around/under this area, and there’s no water in the cellar below. has anybody else ever encountered this?

I suggest a drain in the cement under the stoop.  We had this problem for a couple of years and now we don’t – it took 2 tries though.  First we hired someone to fix our brownstone steps and while he was there we asked him to make the understoop area where it wouldn’t be glistening wet and wet to the touch on the brownstone steps but the underside under the stoop, and they “fixed” it (not really, better but not fixed), then a year or 2 later when we hired a true contractor, he said we needed a drain installed to pull down the moisture and he put in a little drain and now we have a little dampness and I always leave the stoop door open to air it out, but it’s much better.

Do you mean the drain under your stoop?
