Recommendation for someone who makes plaster crown molding?
My original crown molding was destroyed in flood (unrelated to Sandy!) and I will need someone who can replicate the crown molding in my home. Does anyone know someone who does this?

Actually “dragging” plaster is not that difficult. Albeit bit messy, it’s like a blend of icing a cake and sculpting.. You need plaster, water and a shape. In this instance the existing profile. This can be copied with a profile gauge: http://www.fine-tools.com/k309631.jpg a> Then transfer it onto a 1/4″ plywood template (1/8″ may work but it could distort when it gets wet. One would need to experiment). You would want to make a few of these as they will ware down and collect plaster. Depending on the profile it may be necessary to “ramp up” the build from less detailed templates. But basically you will drag the plaster along the run of the area you wish to replace/repair. It sands easy BTW. Wet sanding sponges would work as well. The longer the stroke the better. Possessing artistic sensibilities helps. By doing this yourself you will retain a considerable amount of re$ource$. However, sanity may be tested for first timers. And…it’s fun! (to me anyway).
