Historic brick repair

Our house is wood frame.  The garden level, however is brick.  House is c. 1870.  Some of the bricks on the bottom level have begun to come apart (turning to dust with the faces disappearing.  We brought in a mason who told us that the problem is that he could not match the color of the brick so we would have mis-matched bricks.  Has anyone found a solution to this or a mason who is able to deal with historic brick repair?

Hi, if you are still looking for a mason to match your existing bricks, please contact Anthony the Mason, 347 307 4725.  He has done historic restorations, and was able to match bricks that were not longer availalbe.  I am unable to tell the difference.  Good Luck!

Thanks so much.  It would be great to get the name.  The other options I have been given seem very unappealing (e.g., put in different color brick, put in a course of stone at the bottom, etc.).

There is a company that will do custom cokor brick to match, but it is not cheap.  Let me know if you are interested as I would have to look them up.
