Help! FLEAS...maybe

They recommend putting the cut ends of a flea collar in the vacuum bag, too. Keeps dormant eggs from hatching in the vacuum I guess.

I beleive we have fleas….dog scratching, inexplainable red/ brown dirt around, bites on me…and last night while reading iphone in bed i saw one jump up in front of the screen light. With that all said…how can I be sure and what do I do about it? HELP! Thanks, Scratchy

You’ll need to get an exterminator and the dog will need a flea treatment. It is totally doable. Ask a pro. The sooner the better.

I’ve always had good luck with the flea bombs you buy in the store. As long as you follow package directions and use the right number for your layout, they work. I don’t have a pet, though, so don’t know how that figures into the equation.

Just to add to eme, 1.  Treat dog with frontline.  Do this now. AND do this again in 6 months in the beginning of spring..(the dog won’t be scratching, but this is to prevent the fleas eggs that manage to survive step 2 and 3 and fresh host to feed on.) 2.  Flea traps..  Unfamiliar with these. 3\. A fogger…  Definitely my weapon of choice.  Follow direction on on can.  Plus the fogger has the added benefit of kiling all the linger mosiquitos and what not.  AND do this again in middle of the summer. – I would also add carpet powder and upholstery spray to the mix, depending on furnishings.  And make sure to clean all of the animals bedding.   After treatment, vacum everthing!!  And you’ll be good.  * By doing the spring and summer treatments(before you see signs of fleas) you should be able to make in through a year and the many lifecycles of a fleas

I’d ask your vet about it.  Capstar (a pill) is recommended for really quick control followed by other topical meds.
