Replacing older gate lock

I need to replace an older gate lock for our brownstone.

Currently there is so much “play” in the old metal spindles even when locked the handle can be turned to gain access. I had a quote this morning saying $495 and btw its not going to be the same size and we need to screw some brackets on to fit the current hole……wtf???

Anyone else come across this problem as i assume we arent the only one with this generation of handle/lock?

I was hoping it was just going to be replacing the internal spindles/parts etc.

We use our local provider http://www.24hourboiselocksmith.com. They’ve always helped us out with our side gates and all of our decoritive locks.

I don’t know if your issue has been resolved as I didn’t see any of your comment about it. So if you’re still suffering. I got anther suggestion for [locksmith in Henderson NV](http://www.asaplocksmithhenderson.com/), might be they can sort out your issue.

Well I might have the solution of your problem. I always use [Providence Locksmith](http://www.lockexpertri.com/) as I feel they are the best providers over here. Thy offered their services in multiple areas. See if they are also serving in your area.

Nicky turned up this morning just to do a quote after i’d received 2 quotes from other companies for up to $950 to replace/repair/fix problems we were having with these 50+ year old locks.

His answer was…..Nope no need to replace everything here, will just needs some new parts, i’ll charge you $85 + parts of $15

Shazaam 20-25 mins later (about 10 mins each lock problems solved, both working perfectly and he cleaned up after himself).

I’d suggest trying the locksmith on 9th Street just west of 5th Avenue. They,ve been in business since the ’20s and really know their stuff. However the price is still likely to be in the hundreds.
