Can anyone recommend a good locksmith in the South Slope/Sunset Park area?  We need to get the cylinders on a couple of locks changed.

Absent a recommendation from a trusted person I’d be reluctant to use a locksmith without a brick and mortar address; I’ve read horror stories.

Not sure if you still need this after so long, but for anyone finding this thread later rekeying cylinders is a pretty quick job for most locksmiths. Just make sure to go with someone licensed and local, and always get a quote upfront.

I recently moved and called Lockbusters: http://lockbustersnyc.com/  Their website says they’re east village, but they’re a mobile company and Jay lives in Park Slope himself.  He was fast, gave me an honest estimate about what I actually needed, and then ended up doing more work without charging me (apparently no one had ever updated some squirrelly locks that had been installed at some point and Jay didn’t feel right leaving them).  He was also great with our 2 labs, so if you have pets don’t worry.

There is a locksmith on 9th street off 5th Ave that got good reviews on the old Brownstoner website. I’ve never used them.
