under cabinet lights - halogen versus xenon?
I recommend LED lighting for under cabinet and also all kitchen lighting, LED technology has many advantages made it the new lighting trend over regular lighting sources like halogen and xenon. LED lights are Energy efficient, produce no heat, durable and long lifespan.come in a Variety of color temperatures and color quality.Come in almost all lighting styles with different shapes and sizes. provide a perfect low profile, that suits under cabinet lighting. for more information you can check [ LED Kitchen Lighting](http://www.ledkitchenlighting.net)

Can anyone tell me where to buy under the cabinet lights that are halogen, not xenon? We’re renovating our kitchen and my husband is currently fuming because the under the cabinet lights that the people at Gracious Home assured him several times over were halogen turn out to be xenon, and we have the electrician coming today. (They’re the kind that look like long bars and are hard-wired.) And a related question — are xenon lights really that awful? He says they are garish fluorescent-looking lights instead of the warm light of halogen, which sounds pretty ugly, but we’re suffering through the end of this kitchen reno and I’d like to get the lights up as soon as possible. Any advice??

Halogen lighting is readlily available, just Google it. afa asking if ‘they’re awful?’ surely it’s a matter of your taste and preference, not ours? Couldn’t you decide by looking at them? Some xenon lights are too blue, others are white.

We used hard-wired and dimmable xenon light bars for our under cab lighting. Their light is a soft, warm white. Going on 4 years since installation, with no replacements as yet, we do not think them to be “awful” at all. To the contrary, these xenons are quite beautiful, functional and reliable. The manufacturer is WAC Lighting.

I hate halogen. Our kitchen has them under the cabinets (was that way when we bought recently) and the lights are so hot that the cabinets are like an easy bake oven I can’t store things that might melt or medicines in those cabinets. We put LEDs into another room with under cabinet lights and love them. They don’t get hot and we like the light from them just fine. We will eventually replace the kitchen ones with the LEDs. I don’t know about Xenon but I think those could also cause the heat problem. If I remember correctly, I think there are different temperature options for a lot of those lights–warm or cool, warm being what most people prefer. Before deciding, maybe you should go to a lighting showroom and look at all the options. I looked at a lot of options on Bowery near Delancey, which lighting row in the city.

There is nothing about xenon lighting that inherently will be of a different color than halogen. They are both based on incandescent technology with different gasses in the bulb. Your husband may be thinking about the blueish light that comes out of supposedly xenon car headlights. That is function of the bulb type (and in some instances is intentional), but it is not what your under-cabinet lights will look like. You (or your electrician) can very easily power these lights on so you can see them lit up before installing them.

LED under cabinet lighting is the best choice that replace traditional lighting solutions, like Halogen and Xenon which consume a lot of electricity and generate a lot of heat. LED lights are Very low heat generation, can be used for long time without risk of overheating, represent a safer option, Durable and long lifespan, are very compact and low profile and comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, here you can know more about LED under cabinet lighting [http://www.ledunder-cabinetlighting.com/2014/09/led-under-cabinet-lighting-guide.html](http://www.ledunder-cabinetlighting.com/2014/09/led-under-cabinet-lighting-guide.html) Also, they are rugged and compact, that make it resistant to vibration, shock and impact.
