Advice on mystery water damage

The mold is more likely to be there from standing water from a previous leak than a current leak. If you have an active leak, you’d see water in addition to the mold. The previous leak, if not dried out before fixed, was then sealed into a nice little environment that mold just loves. You need to have a look to determine remediation. There are a bunch of “scopes” that you can use so that you can make a small opening and snake in a flexible cam with a light on it that transmits the video back to a screen you’re holding in your hand, and some of them record the feed to a sim card. Newly purchased house had some water damage (post inspection) that came into the enclosed porch from the lower roof/balcony above. I never actually saw this, my wife handled it while I was out of town. The whole perimeter of the balcony was sealed. After that repair a mold spot appeared in a Different corner under the balcony. I can’t perceive any way water can get through the tiled surface, but there must be water, since there’s mold. My question is what kind of professional to get in to look at this. Roofer? Mold remediator? My main goal is to diagnose the problem – the source of the water.

Is it possible that there was some moisture left from before the repair? I’d suggest removing the mold with a 1:4 bleach/water solution and seeing if it recurrs.

Check to see if the gutters are clear. If they are, get a good roofer to diagnose the problem.
