Apt seeker gets owner contact info from broker - What would you do?
I’m renting an apartment and dropped off several keys to different brokers nearby. I drop off a key and a sell sheet with all the informtion I can think of including my contact information – so I don’t have to fill out a form every time I visit a RE office. So after a few viewings yesterday I get an email from a viewer who was very interested but came with a broker. And, Is there a fee? Apparently one of the brokers was a little lazy about concealing my contact info. I know what I’m leaning towards doing. What would you do?

One who has no problem trying to screw a broker will also have no problem trying to screw a landlord.

One of the main reasons to use a broker is to vet applicants. How do you know this person is not an underemployed homicidal maniac with a credit score below 500?

My email is not public record. >The viewer wants to save some money by cutting out the broker. Is this a level of “dishonest” that would make a bad tenant? I didn’t consider it in that light, but I don’t think it would mean that – just someone looking for a bargain. I was looking at it from the view of my “contract” with the broker(s) I enlisted. I don’t think I will follow up with this person, but I was wondering what others would do.

I wouldn’t rent to that person. How do you know the it’s the broker’s fault? You own the building, correct? That is public information. The viewer wants to save some money by cutting out the broker. How do you know they will be honest with you in the future?
