I need to add vents to two bathrooms in a private house. I’ve been on the phone after searching HVAC on the web, and I’m told I need to contact an electrician. However, the ducts don’t exist yet. My point is, I’m confused. I’d rather not go through a GC because he’s going to take his cut.
Thoughts?
Recommendations?

The cut is there for a reason – expertise.  This is a small job so the cut is small.  It sounds like you are in over your head so why not let the pro do what they are best at?

Contractors may have much needed experience, but usually won’t do small jobs like this. I’ve often had well-recommended contractors look at small jobs in my house, but they don’t ever follow through with the promised estimate.
