Excellent bathroom renovation by Chris Lombardi

I’ve heard of Chris Lombardi and how excellent he is several times already. I had a friend who also had her bathroom renovated by Chris Lombardi and it turned out great! She had no regrets with hiring him.

I found Chris Lombardi through good reviews on this website so I thought I should come back to say thanks and that not a single good word was exaggerated. Our job was the renovation of an old 8×10 bathroom, with laundry set-up, that had mold behind two of the walls. It had to be gutted and we wanted the tub replaced by a walk in shower. We were given a reasonable estimate in keeping with this area, a detailed description of the work which reflected our requests and the building’s needs, and a time frame that was around a quarter of what we had been told in the past. I was sure that at least the last part was a daydream. However, _Chris did everything he said he would do and more, when he said he would do it, and for what he said it would cost._ He was a great pleasure to work with. The main thing that stood out for me in the reviews I read here was that Chris and his crew do one job at a time until it is finished. The time frame reflects that. It also allows Chris to do the skilled work himself and it is very clear that he takes great pride in its quality. The workmanship in every aspect of the job is exceptional. The design details were beautifully executed, high quality fixtures well installed, and everything behind the walls was done exactly right. Mold is now ameliorated and encased, we have a new water heater, poorly routed plumbing is corrected, wiring is upgraded, we even have straight and square walls for the first time in the building’s history. Chris also introduced me to Venetian plaster, which he does brilliantly, and I now have bathroom walls that I should never have to paint again. Chris told me not to “write a book” when I told him I was going to leave my own review here, but I have to add something else I particularly appreciated. As you can see from the pictures below (if they attach) I love bright colors and am fond of Mexican tile. Every contractor I had spoken to in the past told either told me that the uneven tile was too difficult to install or that the colors would make the apartment hard to sell. I was prepared to use more neutral shades, which would also been lovely, but Chris saw my old plan and helped me go ahead with it. It was a challenge to find the materials but they were much more fun to put together and I LOVE my bathroom, so I guess I’m never selling the apartment! And here I was thinking how much more versatile your tub-sized shower is with just a shower curtain, rather than being closed in by a glass door, as per usual. I was thinking easier to use a bucket to clean things, easier to clean little kids or pets, easier just to move around the toilet there without a glass wall right next to it.

Brokelin, I am so glad to see you say that! I am loving having no glass for every single reason you mention, some of which seem to baffle others. I am secretly (not any more, I guess) holding off on ordering the doors to see if a drop of water leeks onto the floor. We have an oversize clear vinyl shower curtain with a few table cloth weights clipped to the bottom, out of sight. The whole thing including tension rod cosy around $50 as opposed to what we might have to pay for custom glass for the extra wide opening. We haven’t had a drop escape yet even with two people in and all three showers in use. AND I haven’t had to clean an acre of glass. I’m going to stick with it the way it is for now. Thanks, D

Seconded on the no-glass approach. A thick clear curtain can look almost as sharp (esp if you magic-eraser it clean regularly) and I find it much more practical, particularly in smaller bathrooms.

Hey folks: I have been meaning to come on here about Chris as well. I have known him for some time and have been reluctant to put a post on here as we know each other as contractors, but that changed when I hired him to do my bathroom. Of course I already knew he was good; he has done work for several of my customers and all have been pleased and one wrote a glowing review on here. I can only add more of the same: clean work, on the job every day, cleaned up every day (and I even told them to leave the mess as my other half was out of town; I did not care), helped me through design issues and he always pushed forward and told me what had to be done (I am a woodworker and small contractor; I needed someone here who could do this job on their own). I cannot say enough about him and am so glad we had used him (and I had talked to a few others before I called him and was not hearing the right answers to some anticipated plumbing issues; chris anticipated the same issues I had and had the answers before taking the job; he knew what he was getting into which meant he did not come to me with any unanticipated expenses). if anyone has any questions about his work, I can be reached via email through my website. In case anyone wants to see the shower with the curtain… Rest of the household agree, it stays. Note: Steve adds some things I wasn’t sure how to say. In my case, I liked the anticipating and dealing with issues as he would if he were working on his own home, often before I knew there was a problem. No muss no fuss, no added expense, as he said, part of the job. Nice.

We haven’t tried Chris. My family is loyal to [Avery Construction Design](http://www.averyhomeremodeling.com/) for years because of their excellent performance and reasonable rate. You can check their website if interested.
