snooping DOB inspector?

When an inspector comes in for inspection, is it common for he or she to snoop around and look at your neighbors properties? I have an illegal extension to the back of my house that I have to remove. I’m afraid that when the inspector comes in he will see that a lot of my neighbors have that too. I’m new to the area so I don’t have to upset my neighbors.
