super slim in-window air conditioner recommendation needed

Looking for removable air conditioner unit that will work even if there are exterior bars over window. Any suggestions out there?  Thanks!

Portable a/cs are noisy (entire unit is indoors) and less efficient. I cut our a secton of the bars tand hinged it so it swings out to accomodate the a/c and latches back in place when it’s out. Not very noticeable and I’d probably just do it without benefit of telling anyone. You can also get a handyman to build a support inside the window for the a/c so it extends up to the bars and is supported inside. Maybe some nice wood so it won’t look too ugly?

Researched this last year and bought the portable ones that put just a hose in the window. Bought units at J&R on 7th Ave in Park Slope.

Any iron work place can build you a cage for the air conditioner that they can weld to your existing bars.  Assuming you are not in a landmark district that’s the way to go.
