We have used Bay Ridge Windows & Doors twice. Make an appointment, don’t walk in to the place otherwise you will be dealing with 15 year olds. Ask for Luis. He will come to your house, measure, etc. He’s excellent. When installing ask for Joe, another guy who has been there forever. We went with their top of the line both times, no complaints. This place knows brownstones.

We have already converted to solar. We are looking to move from gas heat to electricity powered, along with any other carbon footprint reducing actions (eventually). We paid in the high $20s, a bit less, but I think we installed in 2011 or so. We had a few “Marvin Magnums” which added significantly to the cost as these were in the range of $2000+ each. The rest were pretty standard and not individually that expensive.

I will say that i doubt we will ever recoup the actual cost of the windows in energy savings. We dont pay much now for heat and hot water and cooking gas and drier ($84/mo), plus electric for CAC, but the comfort and convenience of new, non-leaky windows cant be overstated.

I will second Bay Ridge Windows. Take your own measurements so you can get a quote from them and they will follow-up with a final measurements. Installation on my 18 wood windows in a brick townhouse was perfect. They also negotiated on price.

I used Window Fix for Marvin’s and was very pleased with the results. See if your contractor can get a discount or if they will reduce their quote.
