Boiler Drip

I have a boiler that requires removing a small quantify of water weekly. After closing the valve, I’ve been noticing a very small drip. When Home Serve came to do my annual boiler tuneup, I told the technician about it and he tightened a screw. But the drip continues. Should I call Home Serve, describe the problem in detail, and ask them to send someone to do a repair (replace a washer?). Or should I get a plumber or boiler specialist to do the fix.? Attached is a picture of the value. Has anyone ever had this problem?

Or you could just get rid of that antiquated low water cut off that is connected to that valve. The water you’re flushing is to maintain the low water cut off, it does nothing for the health of the boiler. Just an option to consider…

If he correctly tightened the packing nut on the ball valve and that did not work, you may need a new ball valve.

You possibly just need to tighten the packing nut. you remove the screw and handle, and voila. This is a handyman, homeowner type job.

I would let the service company know that their tech didn’t know his way around a valve.

You don’t need to flush your boiler every week. This is such a misunderstood concept that’s been ingrained into our heads because it’s what our grandparents did their whole lives. Ugh.

Get a local plumber to service your boiler on a regular basis. Someone who gets to know your boiler & whole heating system.
With Home Serve & such companies, you get a different technician each time and no one knows your boilers foibles.
