Big A/C for small window?
Hello. I have 23″ wide windows in my studio, and I currently have one 10,000 BTU Frigidaire. I have a bunch of computers and on days like we’ve had this week, it’s not really enough. I’m adding more computers and I really need something more powerful, but searching online the best I can come up with is 12000 BTUs for that window size. Does anyone know of a more powerful unit that will fir that size window? My wife suggested getting a second unit, and I laughed, but is that a crazy idea? Thanks for any help!

Thanks, all. I have the power problem covered. I was just hoping to replace the unit I have rather than blocking 2 windows, or getting into expensive HVAC installations.

Have you considered having an a/c + a dehumidfier? You’ll have to dump the water out of it unless you can rig it drain down through a hose, but this can make a big difference in comfort and probably allow an a/c to cool better.

There are several 13,000 – 14,000 BTU units that measure about 23 5/8 if you can trim the molding or parting strip to gain that franction of an inc. You can go to the PC Richard or AJ Madison websites for measurements.

two units. also, something to remember is that the large btu’s you are seeking are going to bump you up against a regular houselold 110v branch circuit. (larger ones need a 220v circuit). with a 23″ window and wanting a large number of btu’s i dont know of a solution other than two units. if you can put them on seperate breakers all the better.
