Water Main To Street
where is master plumber when we need him?
i am not a plumber but have worked in hundreds of buildings – some for long periods and got to know them well. i have never known there to be a check valve on the water main. they have check valves on some of the fire service lines.
i will add this and it is something i heard, because there is no check valve to keep house water from entering the water system – and this is something someone told me – that is the reason why all sink faucets have to be up above the sink – so that if a fire pumper hooks up to a hydrant, it will not pull the water out of someone’s sink. only something i heard and i would like to hear what others have to say about that-

Hi – Is it normal to have a check valve on the water main to street, or not?? Thanks
