Water leaking from the cellar doors
Hello,
Need the help of the brownstoner community. I have those typical metal doors in my front yard located on the ground that allow access to the basement. I noticed water is leaking during rain or snow through it into my basement. How do I fix that? I know many people do rubber mats on them top of them. Anything else? Whats a practical way of handling this?
Thank you!

Is it leaking through the doors or under them? If it’s going around the hatch, you may need to flash or sealit up with roofing cement. If it’s through the doors, you may replace the hatch, or contact the manufacturer. If the installation is poor or worn out, you may need to replace the hatch.

I added a couple rubber mats and it significantly reduced the leaking. That said, I am convinced there’s a better solution to seal it so would like to hear suggestions too.
In addition to water leaks, gaps and the thin metal allow for a good deal of temperature transfer. So, solutions to better seal up this area (some insulated paneling?) would be appreciated.
