Water in basement (Monday's storm)
We just had this problem, after the storm earlier this week. Had someone come today and snake the drain in our yard. He said it was years of grease causing a blockage in the sewer line,
like a clogged arterial artery. We think it’s fixed now but we’ll see!

Here’s a video of water coming into my basement – https://goo.gl/wWCQyP. You can actually hear it gurgling. I think it may be coming from my neighbors downspout, which appears to be going straight into the ground. Mind you, this was hours after the rain stopped. I’ll have a chat with the neighbor and also going to have the contractor take a look. But from what you guys/gals see/hear in this video what are some possible solutions to prevent water penetration?

can you post a picture of what your neighbor is doing with their downspout?

If your neighbor downspout is going directly into the ground, most likely it is linked to their sewer line. Do you have a pic of the outside?

this is what mine does but the transition from downspout to drain line is visible above ground.

i will attempt to grab a picture when i get to the property tonight. but i think its just going into the dirt. its hard to see with the type fence they have up.
