water and sewer service line protection question

I’m wondering whether people have had good or bad experiences with American Water Resources water/sewer service line protection program?
All of the posts I can see here are about 8-9 years old. Has it improved?

I declined the service at closing/post closing, not realizing how valuable it could be. Fast forward about 1 year, the city tells me my water line is leaking, and I would have to fix it asap. Without the insurance it cost me $7500. So it’s a great program b/c water line and sewar line repair is astronomically expensive. My only advice (and this applies to insurance in general) – is that if you have a claim, play dumb when they start asking questions. When a neighbor’s sewer failed they asked if he had any recent work done. He innocently mentioned that he had the line snaked – offering this as proof that he was maintaining it. They asked by whom, he mentioned the plumbing company. Because that company wasn’t an approved vendor, they denied coverage, despite the fact that the company in question is licensed and extremely reputable. So he got saddled with a 20K bill all b/c he didn’t stay quiet. So yes, get the coverage, and if you need to use it, just say less when they start chatting. What they did to my neighbor was not fair, but it can be avoided.

Many years ago I had water my leaking line replaced and was very expensive.

A neighbor had the wast line replaced a very expensive job. I then got the American Resources insurance for a reasonable annual cost for the wast line.
