Verizon called me to put a pole in my backyard

I was surprised to get a call from a Verizon rep today saying they wanted to put a Utility pole in my backyard to improve their current wiring situation. Sounded weird to me, but I guess they have to put the pole somewhere, but the more I thought about it, the less I wanted to do it. I mean can this give me anything else but problems? Can I charge them “rent” or something for putting a pole in my yard. Just seems like I would be taking in and unnecessary responsibility. Anyone run into something like this before? thanks
