Tips to keep squirrels from digging up a freshly planted garden?

I’ve sprinkled a mixture of water and hot chili peppers around my tulip bulbs and the squirrels have left them alone!

One of my neighbors must be supplying the neighborhood squirrels with peanuts. They’ve been using my planters as storage for these peanuts and in the process have dug up about 60 dollars worth of new plants. I’m going to give the above product a shot.
