tiling whole floor instead of hardwood

I currently have hardwood floors but don’t like the color and shape of them. Do you think its a good idea I should strip it and put tiles all over the house?

Also keep in mind that you can have your existing hardwood floors sanded and stained a different color.

this is a matter of personal choice but i would not do it. i have been in houses where people have lain tile through out and i have nothing good to say about it. its worse than the ‘burbs where i grew up and some people put wall to wall carpet down.

keep in mind, tiling over something like old flooring might not go as easy as you think. it might not be a matter of stripping the floor (what ever that means) and laying tile. it might mean ripping the old floor out and and laying a new sub floor and laying tile on that.

large area rugs might be a better way to go. and you can change the look with area rugs – you can go traditional or modern.

i would not rip or permanantly cover and wood flooring in any house that is in good condition because that is the reason a lot of the people living in these houses buy these houses; because of the wood floors.
