Thoughts on low profile over-the-range microwave hood

I would have said I would never put a microwave over the hood but the examples you posted are pretty sleek looking.

Hi, I’ve got a small kitchen and need a microwave for baby/toddler food (among other uses to warm stuff up) and can’t sacrifice additional counter/cabinet space for doing a separate hood and microwave. The standard 30″ over the range microwaves are behemoths though and we never need/use a microwave as a convection oven. Kitchenaid just started making a low profile OTR microwave that has a pretty powerful ventilation (500CFM) and only 10.25″ H vs. standard 17″. Downside is you only get 7″ of interior microwave space. Curious what people think — would you trade the risk of not having enough height for a tall mug for the sleeker look and extra room for cabinets above the microwave?
