The letter A after a house number, as in 93A ... Street,is not recognized by DMV

The DMV is not finding our address in its system and thus cannot issue a driver’s license. They say they cannot override the system, and that I have to get in touch with the Post Office to ask them to make changes. They only find the 93 … Street address. The house is over 100 hundred years old, we have tax pictures from 1940 and 1980. It seems it was always with the letter A. On the property tax page, both 93 and 93A addresses are listed separately. The A is a common occurrence in Brooklyn, and I wonder whether anyone ran into a similar issue.

BS. speak with a supervisor…. My address #s are followed by an A as in apple and so are many of my neighbors in Windsor Terrace and I have a NYS drivers license for thirty years!! My small frame home built in 1870!!!!

Instead of going around and around, I would just contact the PO and provide them the address that they have, and put it back onto the DMV. AFAIK the USPS uses their “Address Management System” data to deliver mail:

no-permitz, respectfully what was the point of your comment? dmv says address does not exist. go to post office, get address, show dmv “here is the address directly from post office itself”. watch idiot pull up the address. if they can’t figure it out you escalate to manager, then if not contact your local elected representative, public advocate, or whomever. seriously i really don’t know what the point of your comment was. sit in line for an hour again and peck away with some civil servant with zero data that you can give them?

Went to Post Office. Manager looked address up in their system and found it correctly as in 93A. He said to bring a utility bill to DMV. Checked back with DMV. They found the address under 93 1/2 in system, as dorkofwindsor suggested. Thank you!!
