Textured ceiling and walls

Hi everyone – what’s a safe protocol for removing a textured ceiling and wall? I’m mostly concerned with my toddler. We won’t be living in the space when the work is being done by the way. Our contractor said we can drywall the ceiling which we’re fine with but some walls still need to be scraped so I’m still concerned with asbestos and lead.

Do I take a sample to get tested first before the work begins and then if it tests positive how should I proceed?
