Switch to Electric Stoves
My building uses gas for boiler as well as for stoves…. I am thinking of avoiding the headache of replacing the gas lines – three apartments and has to go through a store as well…. for the stoves and replacing them with electric. Anyone have experience with cooking with electric, recommendations….

I will consult with a engineer but my master plumber thought it was getting to be time – pipes are old. I would prefer gas – it’s what most Americans are used to .. just curious about other options …

Though I 110 percent agree with resident2, we’re considering using an induction cooktop when we get around to our kitchen redo. They are very different from your traditional electric in that they are insanely responsive – quite a few high end chefs use it in their own home — but in the end, people are not accustomed to induction and want their gas gas gas.

I know people often think that tenants do not really cook these days, so what does it matter what kind of stove. But most do prefer cooking with gas, also think of the re-sale when you eventually come to sell it.
Why are you thinking you need to replace all the gas lines?

as long as you have sufficient amperage to handle the additional load, it should not be a problem

We did recently upgrade the electric for the building and each apartment has 220

unless your service was upgraded in the near past , i doubt if either the individual breaker panels or the building service can handle the extra load…how many amps is each riser and what size is the building service… the cost of an electric upgrade may be way more than replacing gas lines
