Studs for basement- metal or Pressure treated wood?

No-permitz, we had wood under common wall board in our basement for 20 years. It did get moldy, where there was seepage from water coming in. However now we have metal studs, and if you want to hang up a TV, or a wall hung sink, or shelves, or anything heavier than 10 lbs you might regret it if you do not put some wood studs in certain areas.

Any suggestions what’s best for framing out a basement which has some humidity and will be better in case water gets in- should I use metal studs or pressure treated wood? Or is there another product that works better?

I’m planning to add some walls in my basement and will likely be going with treated wood. Either one should hold up well if the wall is properly built, but treated wood is treated inside and out whereas metal has a coating that can be penetrated if you drill or nail into the wall. But I welcome an experienced contractor’s take in case I’m off base on that.

Im thinking that the bottom track you mount the studs on would rust out if metal.
I assume a pressure treated piece could sit on a damp floor or get wet occasionally with no real issue right?

do not use treated wood inside. metal studs are the way to go.

My gut was no pressure treated inside. Keep in mind this stuff was made with copper chromium arsinate or something. We were lectured about handling it, burning it, looking at it. But they banned the cca about a decade back and now use something else. I took a look on the net last night and they said it can be used in doors, behind walls. But dont listen to me. I would read about it first.
