Structural Engineer that specializes in Brownstones

If your neighbor built on the party wall without your agreement; that is a litigation/title issue; not an engineer.
If you want to “build up” you need an architect to advise you, an engineer if the architect says it is even possible; zoning wise etc. If you are wanting to: “building up” on the party wall, you may well need your neighbors permission to build on to their side of the party wall. Or as your neighbor has said; build on your side without their permission, but yes it will take square feet away from your space due to the support needed.

I am looking for a specific Structural Engineer that specializes in brownstone. My new neighbor built on my party wall and now we are in court. I want to build up but he is arguing that I can built inside my building and put the weight on my beams instead of building on my wall. Any recommendations or help would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn’t your lawyer have an engineer s/he recommends? If not. you probably don’t have the right lawyer.
