Standing water on roof
We have a flat roof. Where the water drains, we often get standing water that last for days. And theres lots of algae/debris buildup.
Is this really bad? Part of the issue is we have solar panels that covers this area and prevents sun hitting the water and evaporating. Any ideas?
Or can any one recommend a trustworthy roofer to take a look?

water on a roof is not considered an issue unless it remains for more than 24-48 hours. you have stated that this never dries out. the water can and will degrade the membrane and if the sun were hitting it, it could magnify the sun’s intensity and speed degradation. you state that that is not the case with your roof. know that the other concern is weight but i do not see weight as an issue on these smaller buildings but on giant buildings, where a clogged drain could mean many inches of water spread over a large area, raising the specter of collapse.
i tell homeowners who have ponding issues (many have some minimal ponding someplace), that if they paint their rubber roof once every five years, they should paint the area where the ponding occurs twice as often. Silver roof paint is a sacrificial coating used to protect the roof from the sun and water.
i am a Haag Certified Roof Inspector and BESI Certified Water Leak Investigator and i provide inspection and consultation services to homeowners with focus on the building envelope, including the roof. I have served many people on this forum and many people have reviewed on here. i am a home inspector now because a customer saw i was getting older and having trouble doing restoration work and urged me to put my knowledge to work as home inspector. She wrote a review about my skill set on here and that review is used on my testimonials page on my website (see testimonial by Christine).
I coach people in how to maintain their roofs. I have found very serious issues on roofs that even the roofers miss. I found a gaping hole in a roof that a home inspector missed because he used a drone. i don’t use drones. i get off my backside and climb up on the roof (i also need an internal access, a hatch). see reviews about me. I tell my clients the truth and if i do not know something, i look them in the eye and tell them “i do not know but will get the answer”.
