Sprinkler system required for 4th floor addition?
The code is very clear on this one. If you’re on a street that’s less than 38′ curb to curb, and increasing the height from less than 35′ tall to more than that, then you need sprinklers.

I’m looking to build an additional floor to a 3 story + basement brownstone and I ran into an issue with fire protection codes. Has anyone built a fourth story in a brownstone and and avoided the apparent requirement for a sprinkler system?
