Sounds in the ceiling.

We had a similar issue with mice scratching the ceiling and walls. They chewed a hole in the ceiling of our closet. We used http://www.universalexterminating.net/Pest-Control-Contact.html. They sent Warren. He was very professional. We have not heard any more scratching.

We recently moved into a renovation. A few days after closing we here scratching and scurrying in the ceiling. What could it be? And is there someone you’ve used to quiet the sounds overhead?

In my house I’ve had sounds like that [probably] caused by mice when I’m between cats. The arrival of even a tiny kitten has been enough to scare them away [perhaps to the homes of neighbors who are ailurophobes]. If you’re not phobic, or allergic, the solution is obvious. There are MANY cat rescue groups in Brooklyn and kitten season is almost here.

Or squirrels. Check that all outside openings are closed. Are you a tenant or owner?

Rats don’t like the cold so looks like Mama rat had kiddies. Also squirrels will chew away to get in and stay warm but they do make way more noise than mice. Squirrels sound louder and more frantic whereas mice sort of lightly scurry.

I am actually amused that I have this information in my brain bank. Welcome to old home ownership!
