Yes the reason is the house is something called a “passive home” which means everything super insulated in a way that is intended to reduce energy waste, deliver consistent temperature and materially lower monthly HVAC costs. I don’t know if I’m a believer….

I see you took the advice someone gave you on your post to enlarge the middle window instead of combining two windows on one side – it looks really nice – a big improvement.
Is the reason the smaller windows have larger black edges (than the larger middle window) because they open? Do they swing outward?
Would love to see another photo to see what you add for light-blocking window coverings in those windows when you’ve got them installed.
