Needed some advice regarding whether we need explicit LPC permission to install a Smart Lock (Yale) on the front double door for a landmarked brownstone? Has anyone done this ? Havent seen too many brownstones with a smart lock on their front door. The locksmith assured us that this is not big deal

No – you can use whatever hardware.
