I need to replace one ceiling fan and add another in my apartment. Can anyone here recommend specific brands that are reliable and easy to use? Would need to be remote operable and have an integrated LED light. Good brands to look for? Bad brands to stay away from? General advice on sizing? I’ll take it all!

We’ve been happy with Casablanca and Hunter brand fans, which I think are made by the same company.

The big ass fans are really great! We installed one in a large community center some years ago and are still satisfied. I’ve been looking for something smaller in the “mere mortal” price realm. I have always had reservations about fans with lights because there are so few that look great. Minka and Casablanca make simple shapes with slightly sinuous blades and smooth transition to lamp housing, which looks good. I’ve only lived with a Casablanca ceiling fan, which worked great, though that was awhile ago..

I have a lot of ceilings fans, including several of the big ass Haiku fans; a few Modern Fan Company, Mika Air, Hunter and Fanimation. I think the Haiku fan is overrated and overpriced. The are very quiet, and attractive. Hate the remote. The wall switch is junk. The others are all pretty well made. Aesthetics is a significant factor.

I purchased Big Ass Fans Haiku L Smart Ceiling Fan from amazon .
So far I’m liking this L series fan. Since this is the “cheap” “L” series line-up, it’s mostly plastic (mine is shiny/glossy white plastic)… but it does have a some nice features like LED dimmable lighting (2700K warm white by the way), remote control, high efficiency, and very quiet.
